WTF Is The Ultimate Relationship Test? Living Together

2020 was the year that either made or broke couples.

Couples who quarantined together discovered a new level of cohabitation. There was living together, and then there was… LIVING TOGETHER DURING A PANDEMIC.

All of a sudden, your partner was your home office co-worker, exercise partner, and the date you brought to all three of your meals and Netflix nights. For already strained relationships, this was the straw that broke the camel's back.

For other couples, it was a thousand times more comforting to be with their partner when it felt like the world was ending.

So… Are you still thinking of moving in together?

WTF Hubby and I moved in together last year. Here’s a glimpse of what living together looks like for us!

OUR TYPICAL DAY TOGETHER

6:20AM - Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy

WTF Hubby is a night owl, while I’m a morning person!

This means I get mornings all to myself :)

6:30AM - Workout + Shower + Get Dressed

Hubby jokes that my workouts are more like pre-workouts because they’re only 10 minutes long. Jokes aside, he’ll cheer me on as I struggle through it (love this!).

I’ll opt for a quieter workout on days when he’s still sleeping.

6:40AM - Meditate + Skincare

Sometimes meditation is simply enjoying a cup of coffee uninterrupted while watching the sun rise. The mountain view from our home fills me with awe every time!

If I have a photoshoot planned for the day, I’ll throw on a Korean sheet mask before my skincare routine.

7AM - Read

We don’t read together all the time, but I love to share what I’m reading with Hubs. It’s like having our very own book club.

Current read? The War of Art by Steven Pressfield.

7:30AM - Blog with Caffeine

Work on WTFBride.com, of course.

8:30 - IG content + post

By this time, WTF Hubby is awake!

Throughout the day - Pokemon Go

The couple that plays Pokemon together, stays together… haha!

Did I tell you we live near a Pokemon gym?! I’ll set alarms on Alexa for raids, and if Hubs isn’t in a meeting, we’ll raid together.

Here’s my trainer code: 1846 0909 0326

Add me to be friends!

9AM - Eat Breakfast + Hubs starts work

I make WTF Hubby “cat eggs” for breakfast. If we’re lucky, we have leftovers from Mom and all I have to do is heat them up!

Work starts at 9 for Hubs, so I go back to blogging in our home office.

If it’s a day where he has more meetings, I will do my writing on our yellow couch.

11:30AM - Lunch

WTF Hubby makes lunch and goes back to work afterwards. Everything he makes is delicious!

12PM - The Real Housewife of Vancouver

When you’ve been sitting in front of a screen all morning, doing chores is a welcomed distraction!

I’m glad we live in a smaller space, but a decent amount of time does get eaten up by laundry, folding laundry, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing.

On mornings when I have a writing deadline, Hubs will take over the chores. We don’t have a 50/50 split or assigned chores, but we will each step in when the other person is busy.

1PM - Planning and reflecting + Finding Inspo!

I’m either planning out my week during this time, or I’ve spiralled down Youtube or Pinterest.

2PM - Blog Outside

My slump sets in, and Hubs is still in meetings.

I escape to the patio to get fresh air with a hot, caffeinated beverage before I really fall asleep.

I people-watch, daydream, and take one last stab at writing before wrapping up. My body needs to move all day long, so I never have a set workspace at home.

2:30PM - Run a bath

I have a bad habit of falling asleep in the tub, so Hubs checks up on me OFTEN. He brings me a cold, sparkling water too, because I can never get the water temperature quite right… It always gets too hot!

3:00PM - Nap

I succumb to sleep!

4:30PM - Photo shoot

I get ready for a shoot (if there’s one).

Hubs is my IG BF, so he’ll take photos for me if he’s finish work early. We’re done in less than five minutes.

5:30PM - Go For A Walk

He’s finished work!

Since we’re still new to the neighbourhood, we like to find different routes to explore. Pokemon is also a great incentive for us!

Sometimes we’ll grab a bubble tea on our walk, or we’ll walk to my parents’ house. They’re only 20 minutes away! We’ll drop by and say hi. If we’re lucky, we get fed!

7PM - Dinner

8PM - Go Out

We plan most of our outings at night, when there are fewer people in stores.

Last week, we went to Ikea for patio furniture, got groceries, and visited dessert cafes.

10PM - Read + Sleep

It’s my bedtime, but Hubs is still working!

It works out because I’m a heavy sleeper :)

If Mimu (my cat) is over, she’ll be awake on her 3am adventures which only Hubs can hear.

Final Thoughts on Living Together

Being physically together in the same space means you still need to be present for your partner. Good partnerships look natural, but there are little acts of kindness and care that goes into them everyday.

Thanks for spending the day with us!
